Throughout the year, CICan members had the opportunity to gather together to reflect and discuss priority issues and did so in great numbers.
- In May, over 950 people, including delegates from 17 countries, attended our annual national conference in Niagara, Ontario. The conference was hosted by Niagara College with the theme of Inclusion: A Recipe for Success. It was also an occasion to celebrate our 2019 Awards of Excellence recipients, along with the winner of our Distinguished Service Award, Joel Ward of Red Deer College, and the Outstanding Partner Award recipient, CEWIL.
- The annual conference was preceded by a Forum for colleges and institutes serving rural, remote and northern regions. It was held in Owen Sound in collaboration with Georgian College, with about 100 people in attendance.
- In November, we hosted over 200 members and stakeholders in Saskatoon for our 11th Symposium on Indigenous Education. For the first time this event included an international dimension, as over 35 partners from our Pacific Alliance Education for Employment (PA-EFE) Program, in Mexico, Chile, Peru and Colombia participated in the symposium to share their perspective and experiences.
- Over 140 people, including representatives from industry, municipalities and other stakeholders, attended our second annual National Symposium on Continuing Education that took place February 6 and 7 in Toronto. It was an opportunity to discuss how to better respond to the needs of employers and to meet the needs of diverse learners, throughout their careers.
